Environmental awareness, in concept, design, and daily operations, is the foundation of betibo. Green building standards and green technologies will represent the most recognized and proven in the industry.

Local building codes require the extensive use of engineered concrete framing. betibo's designs will reflect modular repeating elements allowing the utilization of reusable forms and contributing to green building practices. Excavation on the sloping site will create usable rock which will in turn be applied as facia treatments internally and externally syncing structures to their environment. The extensive adaptive reuse of locally sourced, reclaimed antique beams and stone archways will anchor the rich history to the contemporary architecture.

Geo-thermal ground source heat pump technology will provide effective HVAC throughout the property and assist in pool, spa, and hot water heating at considerable and ongoing savings over conventional means.

Each suite will be equipped with intuitively programmable motion sensors for LED lighting and entertainment systems, air conditioning and heating. Energy saving state of the art motorized roller shutters are activated as guests enter and with in set times after exiting. Green sourced linens, towels, amenities, and laundry services all contribute to the reduction of betibo's foot print. Rain water collection and grey water recycling from all areas of the property, with onsite treatment and storage, will be used for landscaping and the re-establishment of an agricultural presence, growing vegetables/produce on the terraced hillsides. Municipal potable water will be connected. A natural artesian mineral water source exists on site and will be used to supply the swimming pool and spa. Onsite electrical generation via solar and wind are proposed subject to approvals.

The U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design program (LEED) is the benchmark and basis for many EU member's programs, including VERDE Spain. LEED standards will apply throughout the design, build, and operations, with the goal of achieving Platinum LEED Certification, an environmental marketing caché.
