The Marina Alta and Denia are international sporting destinations, offering top of the line water sports, golf, and tennis. The area is home to international tennis star, David Ferrer.
Denia's Yacht Club offers highly competitive sailing and top of the line facilities. The modern Port Denia and Marina de Denia offer over 400 berths, most occupied year round, for sailing vessels, motor-yachts, and super yachts from 30 to 120 meters. A full array of support services, ship's chandlers, restaurants, and boutiques make for a practical home-base for a discerning clientele.
For the adventurous, sports fishing, wind surfing, and parasailing are available and the world class scuba diving, in spectacular maritime reserves, is awe inspiring. Exclusive charters and private lessons may be booked by visitors. Only slightly less adventurous is a visit to Denia's daily dockside fish auctions, where for generations, commercial fisherman have sold their day's catch, famously including Denia pink prawns.
Hiking, mountain biking, and climbing on the Montgó, or the nearby mountains of the Marina Alta, offers routes to challenge the most accomplished. Private guides for the less experienced are especially recommended. The whole area, with its great and challenging mountain passes, is utilized as a year round training venue for Spain's international bicycle race teams (Tour de France & Tour of Spain) and amateurs alike.
