gastronomy

When we speak of food, we speak of culture and the places, people, and flavors of each culture. For decades, France, Italy, Switzerland, and England have dominated the culinary podiums of Europe.

While the rest of the world has been in awe of the celebrity chefs of France, the USA, and other countries, Spain has quietly been discovering its own roots, reconnecting with its unique culinary heritage with an unrivaled sense of self. Chef Farron Adria, of the former El Bulli, on the Costa Brava near Barcelona, set the bar in Molecular Gastronomy. Northern Spain and Catalonia's influence in more recent years is indisputable. Today, Spain is, more than ever, connected to its culinary heritage, nationally and regionally. The Marina Alta’s rich natural farm to table culture is well supported by a sustainable fishing industry.

The expected "international" cuisines… Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and even British pub food, all make an appearance on Denia's food scene, but there is another exciting and growing element… Guia Repsol and Michelin guide rated restaurants.

Denia is a culinary stand out, with 20+ restaurants being listed in Guia Repsol and ViaMichelin. Among the most notable: Quique Dacosta (3 Michelin and 3 Repsol stars), Casa Pepa (2 Repsol stars and 1 Michelin star), and BonAmb (1 Michelin star). Additionally, many of Denia's "unrated" restaurants offer outstanding food and exceptional experiences. The culinary scene is competitive and well supported by an increasingly sophisticated and affluent clientele.

Induldge in the world-class cuisine of Denia.
